Extreme Durability
Our pants are of excellent quality! During a trip to Whistler in British Columbia, we skied through the Upper-Peak with the Kummbas over our ski pants. After the run, the pants were still in pristine condition, no rips, no scratches and ready to be worn again!
Kuumbas
Azhar’s kikoi fabric is made in Kenya with handwoven 100% organic Kikoi cotton, woven by some of the best mills in the East Africa Region. This means that the kinds of fibers in the pants are dynamic, so after washing, they will shrink to perfectly fit your body!
The pants are tightly woven giving them amazing durability and comfort and its bright colors are inspired by exuberant shades found throughout Kenya.
OUR MISSION
Africa is beautiful continent with thousands of distinct cultures. We believe that these traditions can provide limitless inspiration for fashion. The fashion industry is constantly changing and we want to introduce a Kenyan perspective into the industry.
Fair Trade and Sustainability
We believe that it is the responsibility of companies to make sure their products are properly sourced. Thus, we have found suppliers in Kenya who pay their workers a fair wage, treat their workers well and follow international child labor laws.
All of our suppliers are members of the World Fair Trade Organization, which ensures all of its members adhere to strict fair trade guidelines.
Kikoi Fabric
The word kikoi comes from the Swahili word for wrap. This fabric has a rich tradition, originating in the East African coast. Spice traders loved to wear them on their voyages throughout the Indian Ocean because they were super comfortable, as well as multi-purpose. They could be used as headgear, blankets, bags, towels, etc. To this day, people in East Africa still use Kikois for everything.
